Our Story
A place to belong, not just to visit.
I’m a refugee. An immigrant.
Someone who has spent much of her life in between — between countries, homes, languages, and versions of belonging.
For years, New York existed mostly as a dream.
For James, New York was a homecoming of a different kind.
Though born outside New York, James has called the city home for nearly 25 years. His family’s roots here stretch back generations — his great-grandparents came to America as immigrants through Ellis Island, his grandfather was born in Manhattan, and his father in Brooklyn. So in many ways, building our life here has felt like a homecoming — reconnecting with a city that has been part of his family’s story for generations.
For me, New York was somewhere I had dreamed of finding. For James, it was somewhere his family had found generations before.
And together, we began restoring historic Brooklyn lodging houses with care, intention, and the hope of creating something we had both spent years searching for in different ways:
A place to stay. A place to rest. A place to belong.
What began inside a small studio apartment at our first guesthouse slowly became a larger vision:
bringing historic Brooklyn homes back to life so travelers could experience New York not just as visitors —
but as part of the story itself.
We preserve the details that make old homes feel alive:
original woodwork, worn staircases, morning light through century-old windows, quiet blocks that still feel like neighborhoods.
Because the best stays do not feel anonymous.
They feel personal.
Warm. Lived in. Like somewhere you already belong.
Thank you for being part of the story as it continues unfolding.
